Coach Kennedy Selected as TAPPS 6A Male Coach of the Year

Concordia’s Head Baseball Coach, Royce Kennedy, was announced as the TAPPS 6A Male Coach of the Year for 2020-2021. Kennedy helped guide the 2021 Crusader Baseball team to the TAPPS 6A State Baseball Championship game while only being the head coach since January 2021.

Following the passing of long-time Concordia Baseball coach, Rick Lynch, in December 2020, Kennedy stepped in as the Head Coach, providing stability and leadership for the young team that featured only four seniors. Kennedy had been an assistant coach under Lynch for years and kept the offense, defense, and pitching rolling for the Crusaders.

This is the second time in three years that Concordia has won the Edd Burleson Athletic Leadership Award. Coach Bobby Lindquist was honored in 2018 as the TAPPS 6A Male Coach of the Year following a dominant Crusader track season for both the boys and girls teams. (In 2020, no awards were presented.)
