Concordia Basketball Teams Perform Well to Close out 2021 - Excited for 2022

Over the Christmas break, both Concordia Girls and Boys basketball programs were busy with practices, workouts, and games. Over the last two weeks of 2021, both teams faced tough competition, to help them get ready to start district play in January. The term “break” was in name only as the Crusaders were working hard around Texas.

The Boys Varsity and JVA Basketball teams competed in the Houston Private School Classic hosted at Second Baptist. Over the three-day tournament, the teams each had five games, with both teams winning their respective divisions. PG Trey M. (Sr.) returned to the starting line up to help lead the varsity team to a perfect 5-0 record and was honored as the Tournament MVP.

Concordia’s Varsity Boys bested The John Cooper School (98-74), Lutheran South Academy (79-45), Westbury Christian (93-78), PSAT Hoops School (71-63), and Grace Christian Academy (66-47) to claim the title in the 32 team tournament.

The Crusaders sit at 14-7 Overall and have one more non-district tune up on Friday, Jan. 7th at Houston Christian. District games begin on Friday, Jan. 14th with an rivalry match up against St. Thomas Catholic at Concordia at 7:30 pm.

In 2020-2021, Concordia’s Boys Varsity reached the TAPPS 6A State Final Four and the team is poised to make another state run in 2022.
