Boys Basketball Reaches Final Four for 6th Time in Last 8 Seasons

For the 6th time in the last eight seasons, Concordia’s Boys Basketball team has reached at least the TAPPS 6A Final Four! The Crusaders made it through the regional finals (elite eight) by trouncing San Antonio Central Catholic 67-44 last weekend.

On Friday, March 4, at 8:30 pm, Concordia will face rival and defending State Champion San Antonio Antonian College Prep as they play for the chance to compete for the State Title. The Crusaders last championship came in 2018 and Antonian has knocked out Concordia two of the last three seasons.

On the year, Concordia (26-8 Overall and 10-0 District) faced some tough competition, especially in the beginning of the schedule in their non-district games. Playing some of the toughest public-school teams in the state has prepared the team well for the postseason.

Starting the season 5-5 wasn’t ideal, but through those battles, the Crusaders found a way to finish the year 23-3 and is currently on a 12-game win-streak, with their last loss coming almost two months ago on Jan. 7th at Houston Christian.

In district play (10 games), the Crusaders dominated their foes around Houston averaging almost 86 points each game. Through the home and home battles with St. Thomas, St. Pius, Beaumont Kelly, The Village School, and Katy St. John XXIII, the Crusaders outscored their opponents on average by win margins of 46 points each game (857-401).
